The enigma that is Pinocchio has baffled scientists, puppeteers, and lying children across the world. With his singular ability to transform nose elongation into a lie-detecting mechanism, he stands as an intersection between wooden artefacts and sentient beings.
1. Decode the genetic essence of Pinocchio, which likely holds the key to his sentient wooden nature.
2. Understand the evolutionary significance of his nose-elongation phenomenon.
3. Check for presence of 'Real Boy' genes.
**Materials and Methods**:
*Specimen Collection*: A few micrograms of sawdust were obtained from Pinocchio's foot, during one of his ballet performances.
*DNA Extraction*: The sawdust was subjected to a modified Wooden-Being DNA extraction kit, optimized by Alice with hints from a certain Cheshire Cat.
*Sequencing*: The DNA was sequenced using the Over-the-Rainbow sequencing method developed by Dorothy with a little help from her friends in Oz.
*Data Analysis*: Alan's computational prowess was put to use. Using a custom software (CricketSoft 3.0), sequences were compared to known genomes: human, tree, and of course, puppet.
1. **Wooden Sentience Gene (WSG)**: Pinocchio's genome revealed the presence of WSG, responsible for thinking and feeling as a wooden entity. This gene is surrounded by sequences resembling marionette control regions, giving him free will, albeit with a few strings attached.
